Ginger: While the fresh root is well known to enhance digestion and ease nausea, the essential oil is used for the same purposes in aromatherapy. The oil is also used to make cosmetics and perfumes.

Thuja: obtained from the foliage of an evergreen conifer in the cypress family commonly known as eastern white cedar or northern white cedar. Because the oil contains compounds with astringent and antibacterial properties, it is used in skin care formulas.

Clove Bud: While the spice is used in cooking, the essential oil is used in the pharmaceutical and fragrance industries. The oil also has a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda and in western dentistry.

Lemongrass: In addition to a stimulating, lemony fragrance, the oil lends astringent qualities to various cosmetics, perfumes and natural insect repellents.

Peppermint: Obtained from the leaves, is used in aromatherapy, topically for muscle pain and is enteric coated as a dietary supplement.

Tea Tree: Also called melaleuca oiltea tree oil and the antifungal and antimicrobial properties of its 100-plus constituents are well documented. The oil is used in skin care products, dental products and in natural household cleaners.
